With TyreSafe’s annual Tyre Safety Month now upon us, the team at Freedom Driving Centre thought now would be a good time to take a look at ways to stay safe not just in our driving lessons in Johnstone and Paisley or even on your test, but when you actually begin driving on UK roads as a fully fledged driver.
At Freedom Driving Centre, our driving curriculum is designed to take drivers not just through the necessary skills and manoeuvres to pass your driving test, but also give you the focus, confidence and awareness to drive safely in different situations and environments. We also realise how important it is to ensure that whatever vehicle you are driving is safe and roadworthy, and we believe that this time of year is the perfect time to emphasise this point with winter just around the corner.
Earlier this year, TyreSafe released the findings of a survey which it had conducted, aimed at finding out how many tyres were not of roadworthy condition on UK roads. Its findings really were troubling: around a quarter of UK motorists were replacing their tyres at the stage when they were already in illegal condition.
Furthermore, 1 in 5 motorists had never changed their tyres for the entire duration of the time that they had owned their own vehicle. Clearly, this is a greatly overlooked aspect of driving.
As well as providing comprehensive driving tuition in Johnstone, Freedom Driving Centre promotes all aspects of safe, user friendly driving practice, which includes advice on tyre pressure checks, tread depth and tyre condition. However, more important even than this is to keep doing the basics right – keep checking blind spots, use mirrors and keep the fundamentals of safe driving at the heart of everything you do behind the wheel.
Whilst our driving lessons in Johnstone, Paisley and Renfrewshire do cover an extensive range of safety tips and reminders, it is only by first-hand experience that you can build up a good feel for driving.
If, after you have passed your driving test and would like some further tuition, we are happy to provide both refresher courses and pass-plus driving lessons in Johnston, Paisley and elsewhere, which cover more in depth driving such as tackling different weather conditions, busy roads and town driving, motorways and driving at night.
